Alphabet Botanical, Thank You Bon Iver, and SLK

29 Mar 2012

Sally would like to introduce her new side project, Alphabet Botanical. It’s a creative collaboration, a magical wonderland, an escape from her solo work, in which she plans to collaborate with many different artists.

So far, she has co-written and recorded two songs with the very talented Tim Myers, and she has co-written and recorded a duet with her good friend Ben Lee.
Alphabet Botanical’s first single A New Feeling is now available worldwide on iTunes.
For more information on the project check out the new Alphabet Botanical website.

Sally would also like to say a huge thank you to Bon Iver and the entire band and crew for having her along as the support for the Australian shows. She was really inspired by the Bon Iver shows, and is now back in her home studio working away on her next solo album.

Also, a reminder that the Seeker Lover Keeper album is now available on iTunes in Japan, the USA and Canada. On April 2 the album will be released in the UK on Micro Data Records!

Sally supporting Bon Iver

15 Dec 2011

After a busy year touring with band Seeker Lover Keeper, Sally is excited to announce that she will be supporting Grammy award nominated artist Bon Iver AKA Justin Vernon on his Australian tour in March 2012.

With writing now underway for her fourth album (and her second under her own name as she previously released records under the ‘New Buffalo’ moniker), Sally intends to record her new solo album in 2012. “I have been working on some songs for my next solo album, even though I have been really busy playing shows with Seeker Lover Keeper. I love Bon Iver’s music, and can’t wait to play some of my new songs live.”

Vernon’s appreciation of Sally’s work is well documented. In 2009 he named Sally’s New Buffalo album ‘Somewhere, anywhere.’ as the most important album to him of the last few years. Earlier in 2011 Vernon went on record for Triple J’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums, saying “It became the most important album for me for two to three years. It was so complete.”

Sally joins Bon Iver for the following dates:

Saturday March 3 – Perth International Arts Festival, Perth
Tuesday March 6 – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Thursday March 8 – Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
Thursday, Friday, Saturday March 15, 16 & 17 – The Tivoli, Brisbane

New album!

18 May 2009

It has been a long time between updates, but there is definitely a lot going on! New Buffalo is currently recording a new album with producer Franc Tetaz (Architecture in Helsinki, Gotye).

This week Sally has been working on vocal takes, and is channeling Daryl Hannah in Splash, Uptown Girl Christie Brinkley, and an unknown woman in Paris with a scarf, for some romantic inspiration!

Those in Sydney can catch New Buffalo performing a rare solo set, which will feature some of her new songs, at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Monday June 8. The performance is part of a benefit evening to raise funds for Sydney radio station FBi.

Sally will soon be speaking with Franc Tetaz at Amplified Sounds of Tasmaina, an event hosted by Arts Tasmania. The seminar topic is ‘The Song Writer and the Producer’ and it will take place in the Function Room at Irish Murphy’s, Salamanca Place, Hobart, from 4.10-5.10pm on Saturday July 18

Also, New Buffalo features as a guest vocalist on the beautiful debut album We Need to Talk by Jessica Says.

Whilst on the topic of other beautiful artists, we’ve heard that Bon Iver has recently performed New Buffalo’s ‘Emotional Champ’ while on tour in the US. If anyone was at Bon Iver’s performance at Cape Cinema in Dennis, MA on Monday May 11, we’d love to hear from you!
