2007, a huge year for Sally Seltmann

6 Feb 2008

On the home front New Buffalo released her second album ‘Somewhere, Anywhere’ to much acclaim, resulting in sold out headline shows across the country. The later part of the year saw New Buffalo on national tours with local greats such as Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers and Missy Higgins.

Internationally, New Buffalo released her album in the US and Canada through the Arts & Crafts label, following up the release with tour dates throughout North America with label mates Stars and Broken Social Scene.

As a songwriter, Sally’s career has taken an upward turn with the success of ‘1234’, the song she wrote for Feist. In addition to this 1234 has secured a swag of award nominations [in both the Grammy’s and the Brit Awards] for Feist. The song has also featured in advertising campaigns for the iPod Nano and Ebay Australia. New Buffalo’s own ‘Cheer Me Up Thank You’ is set to feature in an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy, along with song placements in a slew of other US television dramas such as One Tree Hill and Side Order of Life.

With such a great year behind her, New Buffalo plans to greet 2008 with a series of intimate piano shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this February/March. See the Tours page for details.

Happy New Year

A special thank you

10 Jan 2008

Thank you to everyone who supported New Buffalo [AKA Sally Seltmann] in 2007. It was a big year with shows all over Australia as well as in North America, not to mention the release of ‘Somewhere, anywhere.’ in both territories. An extra thank you to Paul Kelly, Stars, Kevin Drew and Missy Higgins who all invited Sally to tour with them.

We will be announcing some more Australian headline dates soon. ‘Somewhere, anywhere.’ is included in Rolling Stone Australia’s ’50 Top Albums of the Year’ at number 27:

“Soothing, arty and personal, Somewhere, anywhere. is overflowing with charm. This is a showcase of a heartfelt New Buffalo at the piano; a collection of tracks that shows off a voice that has that rare mesmerising quality.”

The magazine similarly recognised ‘1234’ as one of the best songs of the year with the tune rounding out the Top Ten. Co-written by Sally and Feist, ‘1234’ has also secured 2008 GRAMMY nominations for ‘Best Female Vocal Performance’ and ‘Best Short Form Music Video’, with Feist also nominated for ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ for The Reminder and ‘Best New Artist’.

Go Feist!
